Starting his business with the mere capital of only VND 300 million, after 10 years, Mr. Nam has built himself a solid base of property with nearly VND 100 billion / year revenue which continues to grow.
A long difficult road to enrichment
Dong Giao Village - Cam Giang District, Hai Duong Province, is famous for its wood-carving business. Legend has it that this village has been around for 300 years. Born and raised in this talented land, from an early age, Mr. Pham Van Nam, 41 now, had the opportunity to interact with carpentry mastering, carving and finishing a sophisticated wood work. However, when growing up, for many reasons, he did not choose his homeland traditional career path as his own.
In 2002, Mr. Nam left for Japan as an exported laborer with the desire to earn money to support his family. However, in a foreign land, hardship and homesickness made him feel like this was not the life he wanted. So, after 3 years, he returned to the country with a small amount of capital accumulated during his away-from-home time, determined to start a business and get rich on his motherland.
Reminiscing the early days when he cherished an idea to start a business, Mr. Nam said: “I keep struggling, not knowing what to do because of my little capital. Wandering around seeing that the strength of my hometown is just wood works but I turn my head away from the woodcarving business once, I didn't think I should give it one more try”.
There’s one time he visited his friend. Seeing that friend painting a chair with unremitting compliments on the paint he was using, an idea struck Nam’s mind: “Oh, why don't I open a wood painting agent? The output is the wood workshops right here in my hometowm!”

Diffucult First Steps
Actions followed thoughts, he started researching about wood paint companies in the market. He carefully compared the pros and cons of each paint, and also consulted with the wood-makers in Dong Giao about the paint they thought was the best on the market at that time.
However, as the lack of experience in the field of wood paint and his being in business for the first time, Mr. Nam encountered many difficulties. The more he studied, the more he lost his way into the "matrix" of wood paint on the market. Moreover, the competition with available agents in the province also brought him "headache" because all he had was only about 300 million VND, he was afraid it would be difficult to make the outstandings to attract customers.
Mr. Nam shared: “The first days were very struggling. My head is constantly occupied by dozens of paints, unsure what to choose. Asking for references, I realized “so many men, so many minds” – This one say this another might say that. I have no experience, little capital. Me and my wife had to deliberate so hard, with countless thoughts-changings
Success is made of right choices
In the end, Mr. Nam decided to choose Oseven wood paint (O7) to start his busines path. According to him, this high-class wood paint has 20 years of establishment and development, making its name for quality in the market and becoming the only wood paint brand in the country guaranteeing a 10-year warranty. In particular, the key factor that urges Nam to choose to become an O7 wood paint agent is because this paint has been studied to ensure users' health safety. He not only enriches himself but also wants to bring quality, safe-for-health products to the community. That is also the reason why his agent only distributed O7 high quality wood paint througout 10 years in business.
Reminiscing the beginning of his career, Mr. Nam shared: “Doing business for the first time, my wife and I were embarrassed. Fortunately, had it not been for O7 company’s great support, we wouldn’t have achieved today success. I have been trained in sales methods, approach to new customers as well as long-term business strategies. Everything from freight cars, counters, display shelves to banners is supported by the company. They also send staff to consult and sell in the early days when we were still new to paints, etc.”

After 5 years as an O7 paint agent, Mr. Nam has opened quite a number of second-class agents in many districts in Hai Duong province. However, he did not want the business to stomp in place. He and his wife began to look for opportunities to expand their business to neighboring provinces.
The outstanding feature of O7 paint is its guarantee of wooden furniture’s weather-resistance, so the wooden architectural works market flashed Mr. Nam’s mind. Regardless of the distant travelling, the couple headed Northwest, where there were many stilt houses and the demand for wood paint was also quite high. After months of nonstop seeking and customer persuading, Mr. Nam successfully opened more agents in the Northwest and then neighboring provinces.

Up to now, after 10 years commiting to O7 high-class wood paint, from the capital of only VND 300 million, Mr. Nam has a turnover of nearly VND 100 billion per year which continues to grow.
Mr. Nam share with excitement: “I was fortunate to know O7 for 10 years and from the early days of liaising I have found its outstanding values - something I could never see 10 years ago. I am totally financially free, not only enriching my family but also helping better the community’s health "
With determination and hard work, especially the right decision when choosing business partner among brands, Mr. Nam is one of the typical examples of the “Dragon-Up” road starting from a small amount of capital. His entrepreneurial story is worthy of respect and replication.
